So… in the paragraphs that follow there are terms that may or may not be familiar to you.  In those instances we provide a simple answer as well as an external link (in light blue and it will open in a new page) for more information about that term/topic.

A very simple web design (3-4 pages) complete with links, graphics, backgrounds, and photos can usually be completed within a minimum of 10-15 hours of work.  We will apply a 10 hour minimum to all projects.  Charges for services rendered are based on an hourly rate, but most often we create a packaged price that fits the clients needs and wallet.

Since you are viewing our pages, it means you must be accessing the web by some means.  A company that provides web access is known as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and we do not provide this basic connection to the web.

To connect to the web and have access to email or web content will require you to select or continue with your current ISP of one of your preference.

We recommend to all our clients that access to high speed Internet is the best option possible.  Most web site content today consists of graphics or more complex behind the scenes scripting and using a dial up connection can be frustratingly slow.

We have established ourselves on a secure server that is under our direct control.  This means we are able to provide web hosting for our hosted clients and ourselves as well as provide timely support. 

We offer a wide variety of hosting solutions, including E-Commerce sites that require CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripting, guest books, form mail and a number of other services too numerous to list here.

Please note that our hosting is equally available to externally created web content and is not reserved exclusively for clients that have contracted us to create a site.  This means if someone or you have a site that is already created and your plan is to continue to use that content we certainly can provide our server to host your site.

To establish a presence on the web any business, organization or individual requires the creation of a domain name.  The domain is the separate and distinct address for your web content; much like your number and street is your physical address.  You would not think for one minute to invite a friend to visit and not have a location to come to, the same concept applies to your web address.

Once a domain is placed on a server, all pages then form the URL (Uniform Resource Locator or URL, still known as Universal Resource Locator) and all of them combined form the precise locations on the web for your pages.

In our case, we wanted a name that suggested what we do.  However, we were forced to select Net-werkZ© because the names of Networks, Netwerkz, and Networx were already taken.  After some brainstorming and a little creative thinking we made our selection! 

Just as was our experience, someone else may have already selected your ideal domain name.  That being the case, do not despair, we have helped many others discover a viable alternative over the many years of existence. 

If you need help to acquire a domain name for your site such as (www.yourname.com] you can now do this directly with our registrar service.  Of course just as always we can do that for you or you now have the option to do it yourself.

1. Fast Loading Web Site:

A site should load in a second or two.  If necessary high resolution graphics should be sacrificed for content!  We are impatient surfers, if a page does not load fast enough then we are out of there!

We don't like those pages with all kinds of java scripts that play like a movie and then you have to find the skip opening page link.  We will bet you hate them too because we all want to see the main portal to the site first.

Those cuts from Eddie Murray "Raw" might strike you as hilarious but having it be a sound bite that loads with any page is simply obnoxious.  If the person surfing in has their volume up, it could be heart attack time.

If you are selling blue widgets or green thingamabobs tell us about that right away.  We may be looking for some that are yellow and red, so don't waste our time. Other than a slow loading page, we hate ambiguity almost as much.

Your first page should have the same appearance as the last page.  If there is too much of a disimilarity your customers might think they wandered into a different site and will navigate away from there.  Lost customers you will likely never see again.

There is no such thing as too many internal links to your web page.  We learned very early on that every page on a web site should be accessible in three clicks or less and we follow that precept religiously.

"Under contruction" means the same as "out of business" or closed for business!  If any part of your site is simply not ready for your customers then do not put any part of the site out there as visible to the entire world.

Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has likely provided you with an email address when you signed on for your Internet connection.  You selected some user name and password and then the provider created a POP3 (Post Office Protocol, version 3 (POP3), email address for you.  Tom@verizon.net and mary@comcast.com are examples of ISP provided POP3 email addresses

To accomplish its designed functions your web site may require more than one POP3 email boxes.  For example, in your case your site may have several individuals using the site to gain contacts.  We can create an email address that can be accessed from any computer. 

You may already have an email address such as the ones above and you wish to give your site visitors a positive professional impression.  In those instances we create an email alias such as mary@jonesandcompany.com, which in actuality forwards the email to mary@comcast.com.

Once you select our server as your domain host, and place your domain on our server your limit of aliases or POP3 accounts are basically infinite, however the exact number may be limited by the hosting plan you select.

If we are developing your site chances are you will have pictures that you want to include that would help tell your story.  If you have graphics or illustrations that are already in computer usable formats, i.e., gif, jpeg, bmp, they can be sent to us for inclusion.  This will substantially reduce the time we spend creating site content. 

Files of graphics if reasonably sized can be sent via email, however if the file is simply too large then we can provide you with a variety of solutions that will get your items to us.

Of all the topics that we web geeks write about, “all about search engines” probably gets the most ink.  Every designer believes that they have mastered the fine art of driving visitors to web sites, but likely no one of us really have and still many will brag about their ability to achieve top ten rankings.

The job of a search engine is simple, store information in a database about as many web sites as possible.  It retrieves the information by a crawler or a spider (little programs that examine the web) searching for specific information regarding a specific topic. 

The people that manage these search engines are in a constant battle for supremacy with other search engine operators.  Each one tries to be more relevant than the other.  Thus their algorithms or formulas are changing constantly and as you can well imagine, it is certainly a secretive process.

Sites are submitted to search engines to attract attention topically and some businesses specialize in optimizing sites for the web; this is a process by which the best content is created to allow the many search engine operators to find the site and store the information in their database. 

Unfortunately, some that specialize in site submission claim that they have foolproof methods that will guarantee any site a top ten ranking, however we will never make any overstated claims about our potential success.  We simply do not believe anyone can predict a precise position of any web search.  In fact, we suggest that you avoid anyone or us for that matter that might guarantee your site a top ten rank.

Certainly, Net-werkZ© Media Group has the all the knowledge and technology necessary to optimize your web site for submission to the all the search engines.  This can be done as a one-time optimization and submission, or we can establish a schedule for additional events.

A Web browser is the term used to group a variety of software applications.  They allow a user to view web pages and enter text or other requested information. Images, videos, music, games and other formats can be accessed from a Web page at a Web site on the World Wide Web or a local area network. 

Text and images on a Web page can provide hyperlinks to other Web pages at the same or different Web site. 

Web browsers interpret HTML code into formats that allow a user to quickly and easily access information provided on many Web pages at many Web sites by traversing these links.
